Become a Foster Parent!

Resources for Foster Families |
Did you know, 1 in every 100 children in Alaska is in Foster care? That's twice the national average. Become a foster parent and provide children in care a temporary, safe, stable and nurturing home until they can be reunited with their families. Some children stay in a foster home for days or weeks; some stay for several years. In some cases, children are placed permanently with another family.
Call the Alaska Office of Children's Services at 1-800-478-7307 to learn more about becoming a foster parent. Click here to visit Alaska Center for Resource Families for a class schedule and other resources. An orientation for prospective parents is offered monthly! Fostering Futures Alaska seeks adult volunteer mentors! The program is a partnership between FFCA and Alaska CASA to pair older youth with a specially trained and equipped CASA volunteer who works in a mentoring capacity, in addition to the advocate role, to improve outcomes on such measures of well-being as educational attainment and delinquency prevention. Help Your Foster Youth Join FFCA
Youth currently in care, age 15 and older, are eligible. Youth must be willing to participate in the advisory board, and must want to work on improving the foster care system for others. Alumni are those youth ages 18-24 and currently out of care who were in legal out-of-home placement through the Office of Children’s Services sometime during their youth. Members meet quarterly in their regions. Read more
If you are interested in joining us, or know of a youth or alumni who may be interested in joining FFCA, please contact Sarah Redmon at info@ffcalaska.org or (907) 748-1845. |
